Metal Tiger, Water Dragon

Metal Tiger, Water Dragon

I am a Metal Tiger* conceived in passion -
Consumed by it.
You are the Water Dragon** bathed in patience -
Absolved by it.
I pounce, prance and dance.
You coil, roil and boil.
My expression bursts -
Your reflection pools.
My big cat craves approval.
Your mythic reptile shuns it.

How, now, do we blend?

Our courage matches tooth and claw,
Our generosity fills mouth and maw.

Great Dragon fear not
that your fire ignites me.
As your flames now subside
I crave, still, your heat inside.
Come, bring me your scales,
your great tail,
your fearsome mane,
and rest forever in my softer plane.
My stripes will hide you,
my hide protect you,
my fur soften your journey,
my sharp eye and vast heart
absorb your winged magnificence.

Until myths and legends lapse,
they will know us wherever
east meets west, yin nestles yang,
and they will understand at last
that fate our fortunes cast.

You two are doing beautiful, difficult, sacred work. Burn and coil and ignite away. Your families are watching over you...

Dear Suze and Martijn,

This piece so beautifully captures the unity of who you are and where you are, now and forever. It is perfect.

I think of you every day, sending you wishes and hope for less pain, more movement, a fanning of the flames. Most of all I hope that this passage is as bearable and beautiful as possible. I have been in Chicago for a while without access to internet so I've just now gotten the last few entries on the blog. I'm so sorry about all the recent complications.

Martijn, your gentle spirit throughout is an inspiration to me. You are unique, and I'm so grateful that our paths have crossed in this life. I can hear your voice even as I write this. I'm holding you both in my heart.

Much love,

Carol

My dear friends—Suze and Martijn,

Martijn—each day, every hour, I think of you and send blessings and love your way. Your journey is one we are taking with you in our hearts. Sometimes I feel like I’m there with you…especially when I read the words that Suze has written to connect us to you…and sometimes it’s when I’m alone—like driving and walking in the Arboretum. I remember your love and respect for nature—I ask blessings be sent to you from all the beautiful trees, flowers, rocks, animals in the Arboretum. Your friendship means so much to me…your smile, your tenderness, your sincere concern for everyone and everything. You are a ‘CLASS A’ person and I’m honored to be included in your circle of friends. I love you.

Suze—your journey is different and I send blessings and love to you also. You live in my heart and thoughts constantly. I can only imagine what you are living through and I often ‘feel’ my arms around you—even though we are so many miles apart. Thank you for the courage and strength it takes to continue to update everyone—it helps us stay close to you and to Martijn. I have always loved (and I share with you) the following words from The Prophet on Death:
For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.

And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.

And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

Love and hugs,
Suzanne

OK, here is some synergy I must share.

A friend of mine just gave me a book on Tibetan Buddhism. I was reading the page on Dragon and Tiger earlier today.

Really!

It says this of Dragon, "In a more mystic sense the Lamas, like the Chinese, believe it to symbolize the entire world; its head is the heaven, its eyes the sun, its back the crescent moon, its wings the wind, its feet the earth, its tail the trees and plants." In the very next paragraph the book says this of Tiger as it is represented on Tibetan prayer flags, "the central yellow tiger is the earth, the upper right blue one is wood, the lower right red one is fire (also the south), the upper left black one is water (also the north), and the lower left is metal ( also the west)."

Beautiful...you certainly are of one another.

Love,
Anne

Do you know that your astrological signs if overlaid look like infinity?
